Why I’m running

As a longtime union member and, more recently, member and co-chair of the chapter’s negotiating team, I am ready to lead from a fresh perspective as president. I believe fostering a collaborative, yet assertive, relationship with senior administrators will lead to better working conditions for us full-timers, counseling and instructional faculty alike. Representing our hardworking, expert full-time faculty as chapter president would be my privilege, and I hope you’ll choose to support me in this competitive election for chapter president.

My plans

  • Communicate updates in an advisory capacity supportively, clearly and consistently to membership

  • Hold regular focus groups with our membership to ensure voices of both newly hired and longtime faculty are heard

  • Implement multilateral decision making process with Executive Committee, increasing Executive Committee involvement

  • Collaborate with senior administrators when appropriate while maintaining an assertive posture to strengthen our bargaining position both at and away from the negotiating table

  • End the department chair waiting game, petitioning the Maryland Public Employee Relations Board as soon as possible to bring back department chairs to the bargaining unit so full-time faculty who will be future chairs could count on continued union protection

  • Increase transparency regarding Executive Committee alt ESH compensation

  • Recruit newer faculty to serve on the chapter’s Executive Committee to ensure a more representative body
